Exploring new areas on foot
People who share a common interest in travelling off the standard tourist route and exploring new areas on foot. They include Europeans, Americans and people from other countries that speak English as all of our trips is guided by English speaking gudes. Some are experienced walkers, some first-timers. Some come alone, some with a partner, some with a group of friends. They can be of any age but all are active, well educated, well travelled people who enjoy meeting other like-minded walkers and walking with knowledgeable guides. And all enjoy the convivial atmosphere of an interesting group.
Come with a friend or come alone – you’ll soon make friends. Departing mothly from April to October, our walk is a seven-day experience. Led by well-informed guides, small groups of no more than fifteen walkers explore both the fascinating natural environment and the rich diversity of the historical cities. Our daily distances will range between 6 to 12 miles, the emphasis will be upon walking at one's own pace - no time schedules, no concern about keeping up with anyone.
The mood and tone of the entire experience is leisurely and as low-key and laid back as possible. Each of our walks has been chosen with a single objective in mind: to provide a never-to-be-forgotten experience in an area of extraordinary natural beauty.
Experience a quality Croatian accommodated walking holiday.
Be guided through historical towns, medieval fortifications, along secluded beaches or across the ridges of a majestic mountain range. Whether you call it walking, hiking, rambling, tramping, trekking or bushwalking, you’ll love what we have to offer you. At night we stay in comfortable accommodations and enjoy good food and convivial company.
Offers the “must see” places and also off-the-beaten track to places that few people have heard of and even fewer have visited. Let us share these special gems with you – you’ll enjoy a unique, varied, memorable and fun walking holiday. Go with Walk-Croatia, a leading walking tour operator offering great walks of Croatia.
We choose comfortable accommodations in quiet locations and look for quality beds (usually queen sized), ensuite bathrooms, good food and welcoming hosts. Typical accommodation includes boutique inns, guesthouses or small hotels. We pride ourselves on providing great food and most meals are included in the holiday package. For more info about meals check out our itinerary page.
Assuming that you are blessed with clement weather, you should typically be able to walk in a T-shirt and shorts on most holidays that operate between April and October, although we strongly recommend that you take warmer clothes with you just in case. You may prefer to walk in a light-weight pair of long trousers and long-sleeved shirt for added protection from the sun. A T-shirt and shorts should again be sufficient for many holiday destinations, particularly the coastal regions of Dubrovnik and Adriatic islands, however, you will find that continental regions such as the Montenegro and Mostar are comparatively cooler.
We have our local staff, suppliers and resources in the areas we visit. We use local guides so you get an insider's view and perspective and we use local resources - from transport to family run or small, local guest houses rather than international chains providing you with a truly authentic experience. Understanding, awareness & cultural appreciation via education: our small groups foster greater interaction with local people and cultures, enabling you to learn, experience and understand local people's traditions, cultures and rituals - and they yours - making a positive contribution towards conserving global diversity.
Walk-Croatia Trip Summary
Once again, year after year, we are offering this 8-day trip to Croatia’s dramatically beautiful Dalmatian Coast, where stark, white, karst mountains plunge down to a clear blue Adriatic sea. The coastline, indented by picturesque harbors, laced with sanded beaches, and cloaked with intriguing offshore islands, is as rich in history and nature beauty as any corner of Europe.
Our walks will take us to the deep canyons of the Montenegro and Mostar, through the olive groves, vineyards, and old, oak forest of Korcula Island, along the inland lakes of Mljet Island’s National Park, and up the steep escarpments of Dubrovnik. Our evenings will be spent dining to the sound of surf and rustling palms. We will visit the exquisite island town of Kotor with its wonderful Romanesque and Renaissance architecture, stroll the narrow, marbled streets of medieval Korcula Town, but we will start our trip with a visit to the walled city of Dubrovnik, the “pearl of the Adriatic.”
Our trip begins with a transfer pick up at Dubrovnik Airport where you will be met by our representative. After transferring to our villa in Mlini, about a 15-minute drive away Dubrovnik Old town, we will have time to get settled into our rooms before meeting in the hotel lobby at 3:00pm for a walking tour of this part of the Dubrovnik Riviera.
